The CDCP is a federal program introduced to reduce financial barriers regarding dental care for eligible individuals. It’s specifically designed to assist families with limited income by making essential dental services more accessible and affordable and improving oral health outcomes across the country.
Eligibility criteria includes not having access to dental insurance, filing your tax returns so your family income can be assessed for the previous year, having an adjusted net income of less than $90,000 a year, and being a resident of Canada.
Dental health is linked to overall well-being. Conditions like gum disease or untreated cavities can lead to more serious health issues, including infections, heart disease, or diabetes complications. By making dental care more easily accessible, we hope to ensure better health for our patients.
If you’re eligible for the CDCP, don’t wait to prioritize your oral health. We are participating in accepting CDCP patients and encourage you to book an appointment to start accessing the care you deserve today! Regular checkups and early interventions can save you from more complicated and costly procedures down the line. Contact us today to get started. We also happily offer flexible scheduling to meet the needs of our busy patients!
The CDCP Covers a Wide Range of Dental Services
The government also wants people to receive major services affordably to meet their specific dental needs. These services include:
To reduce any pain patients may experience, the CDCP will cover minimal sedation services. General anesthesia and other levels of sedation will require pre-authorization, which we’ll explain below.
Orthodontic services are not yet covered by the CDCP. The government aims to have this available in 2025. Coverage will only be provided in cases where it’s medically needed, therefore, eligibility criteria will be rather strict.
It’s crucial for patients to remember that not all services are automatically covered. For example, services such as pre-treatment of a previous root canal, receiving a dental crown, or receiving deep sedation or general anesthesia will require pre-authorization. This means the CDCP will confirm coverage after taking into consideration your oral health history and medical conditions.
We want to ensure every patient can directly access the dental care they need to live a healthier and happier life. If you have any questions about the services that are covered, how coverage will work, or just about our services in general, contact us today. Our team is always happy to help in any way they can. Or, call us to book an appointment! We can’t wait to see you in our dental office
